A bit of history.

LThe Cathedral of Santa Maria was built in the 14th century on the site of an old Arab mosque, after Menorca was conquered by Alfonso III of Aragon. Its Catalan Gothic style makes it a unique example on the island. Over the centuries, it has undergone renovations, including a striking neoclassical façade added in the 19th century.

An impressive interior

Visitors are amazed by the height of the vaulted ceilings, the brightness of the space, and the beauty of the side chapels. The neo-Gothic main altar and the impressive baroque organ are among the most admired elements. In summer, the cathedral also hosts classical music concerts, adding cultural value to the visit.
